#9 Elmira Topples Salem State 5-1
SALEM, Mass. -- #9 Elmira won their fifth game of the season with a 5-1 win over Salem State in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action on Friday evening at Rockett Arena. Savannah Barber scored twice as the Soaring Eagles improve to 5-2 and 4-1 in the NEHC. The Vikings slide to 1-6 and 0-5 in conference.
How it Happened:
- Barber's wrister at 7:59 of the first was the only scoring of the period as Elmira took a 1-0 lead into the second.
- Once again, despite being outshot 16-2 in the opening period, Delaney Cox was a strong presence in net, denying the Soaring Eagles multiple times from extending their lead.
- Sabrina Shvartsman corralled a rebound near the net and punched home Elmira's second goal, 5:47 into the second.
- Later in the second, Emily Lenzen added a power play goal, giving the Soaring Eagles a 3-0 advantage.
- Barber made it 4-0 in favor of Elmira with her second goal of the contest coming on the power play at 14:47 of the second period.
- A strong forecheck by Téa Miles setup Salem State's first score of the game as Halle Greenleaf found the back of the net with less than a minute remaining in the second period for her first career goal.
- Gaby Matson connected with Anna Lugge, who was alone in the slot, for Elmira's fifth goal at 7:35 of the third.

- Emily Finach (3-2) earned the win making 13 saves for the Soaring Eagles.
- Delaney Cox (0-3) recorded 62 saves for the Vikings
- Cox's 62 saves are second most in a game all-time in Salem State history.
