Silva Earns MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

SALEM, Mass. - Salem State men's soccer goalie Marcelo Silva (Marlborough, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference earlier this afternoon. Tuesday's award marks the first of the season for the sophomore goalie and the second of his career. 

Silva finished last week with an .833 save percentage, 1.00 GAA and 10 total saves in a 1-0-1 week for the Vikings. In the draw against WPI, he stopped a career-high seven shots and added three saves in the 2-1 win over Worcester State. 

Silva and the Vikings are back in action Thursday, October 23 when the squad hosts Lasell University for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
