Salem State Wins 14-7 Over Anna Maria

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State earned a 14-7 victory over Anna Maria on "Senior Night" at Alumni Field. The Vikings end the regular season 8-8 while the AMCATS finish 4-11.   

Salem State honored seniors Josh Connolly ( Blackstone, Mass.), Ricky Longo ( Wakefield, Mass.), Jack Zenger ( Baltimore, Md.), Jack Seward Dailey (Sheffield, Mass.) and Liam Bernardi ( Medford, Mass.) for their commitment and dedication to the Salem State men's lacrosse program. Also honored was #37 Sam Cioffi from Marblehead, Mass., who's memory, impact, and the light he brought to all who knew him will remain always.   

Fisher Gadbois led Salem State with five goals and Grady Smith tallied three goals and an assist for Salem State. Gabriel Laprade spearheaded the defensive effort with seven groundballs and five caused turnovers. 

Eric Farrell netted four goals for Anna Maria while Jeremy Dewar -- goal, assist -- and Nathan Powers -- goal -- each had 10 groundballs. 

How it Happened

• Landon Rice and Gadbois opened the scoring with back-to-back scores to open the game. Farrell tied the game at 2-apiece with consecutive goals, before Nathan Powers gave Anna Maria their first lead at 7:07 of the first. The Vikings scored the final three goals of the period, with Gadbois tallying two scores to exit with a 5-3 lead. 
• Farrell drew the AMCATS to within a score early in the second, but once again Salem State closed the period strong with three straight scores to take an 8-4 lead into halftime.
• Jake Lupo scored for Anna Maria to begin the third, but again the Vikings received goals from Grady Smith, Connor Vittands and Coleman Ballweg to build an 11-5 advantage heading into the fourth.
• The Vikings added three more scores in the fourth, including a pair by Gadbois. Farrell and Jeremy Dewar recorded goals for the AMCATS.
• Damian Biersteker (6-7) earned the win in goal with seven saves. Jack Zenger earned the start in net recording a save. Ryan Cohen made seven stops in the last quarter.   
• Caden Rakes (4-11) took the loss making 10 saves.
