Anchorwomen Win in Three Sets Against Salem State
Providence, R.I.-- Rhode Island College swept Salem State, 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-18) at The Murray Center on Tuesday evening to improve to 6-1 on the season. The Vikings now stand at 2-10.

Five kills by Sydnee Pires spearheaded a set one win for Rhode Isalnd College, which hit .289% in the first set. Salem State kept it close early, but a 7-2 run allowed the Anchorwomen to take a 17-12 lead. A service error and back-to-back attack errors gave RIC an eight-point win.

Nine attack errors by Salem State helped propel the Anchorwomen to a 25-16 victory in set two. Rhode Island College held a slim, 9-8 lead before taking an 18-13 lead following a kill by Rhianno Hodovanec. An ace by Daniella Escudero made the score 21-14 as RIC pulled away for a 25-16 victory.

The Anchorwomen held the Vikings to .167% hitting in set three. A kill from Presley Shairs brought Salem State to within, 9-7, but once again RIC pulled away, building a 16-11 advantage. Shairs cut the lead to 16-13, with her third kill of the set. However, a 9-5 run by the Anchorwomen ended the Viking's chances.

Pires led all players with 12 kills. Sarina Marines had 15 digs and Yuleisy Alvelo 23 assists for RIC

Shairs produced 10 kills while Celia Carbone had 16 assists. Gracie Dailey topped the Vikings with 10 digs.

Rhode Island College is now 8-0 all-time against Salem State.
