2021 Volleyball Preview

SALEM, Mass. – Salem State volleyball was picked sixth in the recently released 2021 MASCAC Volleyball Pre-Season Coaches Poll. Fifth-year head coach Karen McNulty's squad will be led by outside hitter Genevieve Kempster, who returns as one of Salem State's most experienced players. The senior played in 21 matches in 2019, compiling 61 kills, 176 digs and 10 service aces. Key returners include Miranda Quinlan, Michelle Le and Danielle Sheehan, who combined, played in 55 matches in 2019.

Newcomers Charlotte Orth and freshman Eva Haralabatos, a former Middlesex League Volleyball All-Star, are expected to contribute immediately as the team will need to rely on its underclassmen to fill key roles.

Despite their youth, coach McNulty still has the team focused on reaching their goals. " We will strive to make MASCAC Championship Tournament.  Over half of our team has not competed collegiately, so it will be a learning process.  We need to work to improve on a daily basis, while cherishing the opportunity to practice and compete again.  Our upperclassmen are already doing a fine job of guiding the underclassmen on and off the court."

"We want to put more wins on the board than we had in 2019.  We want to be statistically better in as many categories as possible. I am excited for the sophomore class who will finally get to compete at the college level. "

Salem State opens their season on the road on Wednesday, September 1 at Eastern Nazarene.
