Suzanne Lazzaro Tabbed New Women's Tennis Head Coach

Salem, Mass. - Salem State athletic director Nicolle Wood is pleased to announce the hiring of Suzanne Lazzaro as the new Salem State women's tennis coach. Lazzaro replaces Chen Chen, who coached for two seasons.

"Suzanne brings years of experience in coaching competitive tennis to our program. In addition to her skill set as a coach, she shares our department's philosophy of student-athlete development as part of chasing excellence in athletics. We look forward to her leading our women's tennis program."

Lazzaro is currently the youth program director for Nahant Tennis and is the assistant to the head pro at North Shore Tennis and Squash Club where she provides private lessons for members in addition to hosting clinics for high school tennis players. Previously, she was the head tennis coach at The Academy at Penguin Hall in Wenham, Mass., where she was responsible for  player recruitment and development and implementing training and conditioning practices consistent with NEPSAC and USTA guidelines.

"It's a privilege to coach the collegiate athletes of SSU and to serve alongside the  dedicated professionals that comprise the athletic department led by Nicolle Wood. I'm committed to supporting D3 college athletics, women's sports and promoting  a culture of empowerment. I intend to maintain the Vikings' high standards as we compete toward the LEC championships. I look forward to preparing the team for an exciting fall season."

Lazzaro is a Racquet Sports Professionals Association (RSPA) certified tennis professional and a United States Tennis Association (USTA) member.
