THE LEAD— The Salem State women's soccer team traveled to Framingham for a MASCAC matchup Friday evening, but unfortunately fell, 2-0 at Maple Street Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Throughout the first half, both sides played each other evenly. Salem State had multiple chances to strike first, including one at 19:25 when Jenna Mitza (Tyngsboro, Mass.) rifled a shot at Rams goalie, Savannah Goba, but was unfortunately turned away.
  • Later in the frame, with a little under seven minutes until halftime (38:09), Framingham struck first thanks to Ana Serrano and ultimately took a 1-0 lead into the half.
  • Coming out of the half, Salem peppered Goba with multiple shots, including one at 47:15 from McKenna Gilligan (Salem, Mass.) that was stopped by the Rams keeper.
  • Framingham tacked on an insurance goal at 66:52 when Sophia Thimm scored after being set up by teammate Melissa Romeiro. As the match went on, Salem had a couple of chances towards the end to cut into the deficit by rattling off shots at 88:10 and 88:25, but could not find the back of the net as the Rams held on for a 2-0 win.
