Guyer and Zamejtis Earn Weekly MASCAC Awards

MASCAC OFFICIAL RELEASE

SALEM, Mass. - For a second week in a row, the Salem State women's soccer team saw two student-athletes earn weekly MASCAC awards. Ava Guyer (East Granby, Conn.) was named Defensive Player of the Week while Krysta Zamejtis (Danvers, Mass.) earned Offensive Player of the Week honors as announced by the conference earlier this afternoon.

Guyer earned her third career Defensive Player of the Week honor after claiming the same honor last week. This week for the Vikings, she helped the Vikings post a 2-0 week, including back-to-back shutouts, making 14 saves with a 1.000 save percentage. Guyer has not allowed a goal this season in all five starts and set a program record of five straight games of not allowing a goal. She made nine saves in the 3-0 win over Colby-Sawyer, and five more in the 2-0 victory over Anna Maria.

Zamejtis' Offensive Player of the Week honor is her first weekly award from the MASCAC in her career. In Salem's 2-0 week, Zamejtis netted a goal in each contest. She found the back of the net for the eventual game-winner in the 3-0 win over Colby-Sawyer. Later in the week, she added a goal in the 2-0 MASCAC win over Anna Maria.

This week, Salem State will be on the road starting on Wednesday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m. against Thomas College. Later, the squad will head to Westfield, Mass., for a MASCAC matchup at Westfield State on Saturday, September 20, at 2:00 p.m.
