MASCAC QUARTERFINALS: No.6 Salem Kicks Off Playoffs at No.3 Bridgewater
SALEM, Mass. - The No. 6-seeded Salem State women's lacrosse team (8-6, 2-5 MASCAC) heads to No. 3-seeded Bridgewater State (7-10, 5-2 MASCAC) in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Quarterfinals on Tuesday, April 28, at 6:00 p.m.
Five Things to Know
- Salem enters the postseason as the fourth seed and will look to add its first MASCAC postseason championship in program history.
- The Vikings have now finished the regular season with eight or more wins in back-to-back seasons. Earlier this year, the squad started off 8-0 which was the best start in program history after eight games.
- Salem's offense scored 10 or more goals in eight contests this year, going 7-1 in those games.
- On the defensive end, the Blue and Orange held opponents to five or fewer goals in four contests. In those matchups, Salem was 4-0.
- Salem and Bridgewater had met once this year, with the Bears winning, 15-5. Last time these two programs met in the postseason was in 2024, with Bridgewater winning, 21-9.
Who to Watch For
- Salem's offense featured four goal scorers who had 20 or more on the year, led by Laura Young (Leominster, Mass.) with a career-high 35. She had four games this year in which she potted three or more goals, and Salem was 4-1 in those games. Not far behind her was Jordan Turcotte (Danvers, Mass.) , who had 31 scores. She tied her career-high of six goals twice this year and had seven games where she had three or more goals. The squad's two other high-scorers were Aislinn Bennett (Milford, Mass.) and Kaylee Rich (Danvers, Mass.), who had 23 and 21 goals, respectively.
- The Vikings will look to Nora Bradley (Haddon Township, N.J.) in net to continue her stellar 2026 season. This year, Bradley set numerous career-highs in goals against average (9.27), save percentage (47.4), and win percentage (57.1). On the year, she posted two shutouts (Mar. 19 at Gordon and April 4 at Anna Maria) and stopped a total of 110 shots while setting a season-high (12) at Bridgewater State (April 21).
- Bennett will also be seen as a key factor for draw controls after winning a team-high 68 this year. She posted six or more draw control wins in eight games this year, highlighted by a season-high 10 in a 15-3 win versus UMaine Farmington (April 1).
- Bridgewater's offense is led by its two 30-plus goal scorers in Meredith Sylvia (38) and Sophia Fleurent (30). Sylvia has had seven contests this year in which she scored three or more goals, with the Bears going 3-4 in those games. Meanwhile, Fleurent has had three games of scoring three or more goals, with Bridgewater going 2-1.
- In net for the Bears, the hosts will be led by Sara Skaff, who has made 102 saves in 17 games played this year. She finished with 10 or more saves three times this season.
