Worcester State Races Past Salem State

SALEM, Mass. –- Worcester State claimed a 21-6 victory on Senior Day at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon. Abbie Wing tallied six goals for the Lancers, who go to 8-6 on the year and 2-1 in the MASCAC. The Vikings are now 8-6 and 0-3. 

Before the game, Salem State honored seniors Megan Parthum (Marblehead, Mass.), Savannah Scrodin (Bristol, Vt.), Angelina Follis (Saugus, Mass.), Sami Jaworski (Aspen, Colo.), and Alyssa Brown (Lynn, Mass.) for their dedication and commitment to the program in a pre-game ceremony.

Molly Witkowski had four goals and four assists for the Lancers while Hannah Erickson chipped in with three goals. Laura Young led the Vikings with four goals and an assist and Parthum added a pair of scores.  

How it Happened:

  • Wing had three first period goals as Worcester State raced out to a 6-1 lead.
  • The Lancers dominated the second period, outscoring Salem State 10-2 in building a 16-3 halftime lead.
  • Erickson and Witkowski increased the lead to 18-3 with 11:37 remaining in the third, before Yound added a goal for the Vikings.
  • Kerry Brown added two more scores for Worcester State in the fourth. Young notched back-to-back goals before Kylee Fennelly capped the scoring for the Lancers with a man-up goal, making the final 21-6.  

Salem State will play at Westfield State this Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
