Westfield State Prevails 18-4 Over Vikings

WESTFIELD, Mass. –- Westfield State crusied to an 18-4 win over Salem State on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field. Kylie Buchanan had four goals and an assist to lead the Owls, who are now 6-10 and 4-1 in the MASCAC. The Vikings go to 8-7 and 0-4. 

Olivia Hadla contributed two goals and an assist along with five ground balls and six draw controls for Westfield State. AriannaAndresen also added two goals in the winning effort. Salem State's Jordan Turcotte led the offense with two goals, while Kaylee Rich and Megan Parthum each added one.   

How it Happened

  • The Owls' offensive efficiency was evident from the opening whistle as they scored three goals in the first four minutes, with Hadla, Buchanan, and Prattson all finding the net. By the end of the first quarter, Westfield State had built a commanding 9-1 lead.
  • Westfield State increased their lead to 13-3 in the second quarter as Buchanan added two more scores to her tally. Turcotte and Parthum had a goal each in the quarter.
  • Natalie DeMaio and Mykenzie Black accounted for the only goals in the third, making the score 15-3.
  • Mercedes Rozzi's goal with :44 seconds left made the final 18-4.

Salem State travel to Fitchburg State Thursday for a 7:00 pm game.
