Lasell Gets Past Salem State 12-11

NEWTON, Mass. –- Kaitlin Bedell scored with 4:24 remaining to lift Lasell to a 12-11 over Salem State at Grellier Field on Thursday. The Lasers are now 9-4 while the Vikings go to 8-4. 

Alice Rourke had four goals and an assist for Lasell while Megan Parthum led Salem State with four goals.

How it Happened

• Emily Watson and Jade Sullivan connected on free position shots for a 2-0 lead in the first. Parthum answered at 11:40 of the first, but the Lasers scored three in a row to pull ahead 5-2. Parthum answered right before the period ended to cut the deficit to two goals.
• Trailing 7-4 in the second, Kaylee Rich notched back-to-back goals to draw the Vikings to within to 7-6 at halftime.
• Salem State took their first lead in the third as Siobhan Smith, Jordan Turcotte and Parthum put the Vikings in front 10-8 with 4:18 left in the quarter. The Lasers tied the game again when Emily Watson beat the clock and scored with :01 second remaining for Lasell.
• Rourke regained the lead for the Lasers early in the fourth before Parthum answered with 8:55 left, but Bedell found the back of the net to propel Lasell to a 12-11 victory.
• Joy Sayah (9-4) made 18 saves in the win. 
• Nora Bradley (8-4) made 14 stops in the loss.

Salem State goes to Westfield State for a 4:00 pm game this Saturday, April 12.
