Framingham State Overwhelms Salem State
SALEM, Mass. –- Molly Lanier scored seven goals and added a pair of assists to lead Framingham State to a 21-4 victory over Salem State in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) opener for the Vikings on Friday at Alumni Field. The Rams are now 6-4 and 2-0 in conference while Salem State dips to 8-3 and 0-1 in the league.
Hailey Baker posted three scores and seven assists for Framingham State while Kelley DeBellis, Leah Green and Alessia Lye all netted three goals apiece. Jordan Turcotte ran her goal streak to five straight games and Olivia Tednes recorded two assists for Salem State.
How it Happened
- Young opened the scoring for Salem State at 12:10 of the first. However, Framingham State ripped off five straight goals as Lanier recorded a hat-trick giving the Rams a 5-1 lead at the end of one.
- Baker made it 6-2 in favor of Framingham State with a free position goal at 14:04 of the second. Aislinn Bennett answered for the Vikings with her own free position shot, but once again the Rams went on an extended run, scoring six goals to end the second with Alessia Lye netting a pair.
- Lanier added three more goals in the third as the Rams increased their lead to 16-4.
- Framingham State added five unanswered goals in the fourth with Baker accounting for two of the scores.
- Isabella DiMare (6-4) stopped six shots in the win. Allison Wurms allowed a goal on two shots after halftime for Framingham State.
- Nora Bradley (8-3) took the loss making six saves. Sami Jaworski made two saves in 15:00 minutes of action.
