Vikings Defeat Pride 14-5

SALEM, Mass. – The Vikings improved to 4-1 this season, posting a 14-5 win over Regis Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.  Jordan Turcotte tied a season-high with six goals while Aislinn Bennett led the defense with a career-best eight caused turnover with six groundballs to go with three scores. Laura Young notched four assists against Regis, who is now 2-2 on the year. 

Audrey Mason led the Pride's offense with three goals and an assist.  

How it Happened

  • Megan Parthum opened the scoring for the Vikings in the first period, scoring at 7:27 in the first quarter. The lead was boosted by a goal from rookie Turcotte at 4:35 of the first. Both goals were assisted by Young. Audrey Mason then scored for the Pride with 00:13 left in the period to cut the Vikings' lead to 2-1. 
  • Salem State went on a five-goal run in the second period, started off by Bennett scoring at 14:19. Mason scored her second goal for the Pride with 1:33 remaining in the half as Salem State led 7-2.
  • Turcotte led the Vikings' offense in the third period, scoring just 2:27 seconds into the period. 12 second later, Mason responded with a goal for the Pride. Turcotte scored an additional two goals in the third period, alongside Bennett's second of the game, and a goal from Olivia Tednes gave the Vikings a comfortable 12-3 advantage. 
  • Regis's Molly Higgins notched two goals to open the fourth period. The Vikings responded with Turcotte's sixth on a free position shot before Bennett capped the scoring with a free position goal with 1:20 remaining in the game. 
  • Nora Bradley (4-1) earned the win for the Vikings in net, making 10 saves. 
  • Regis' Daniela Mazo (0-2) took the loss, with 10 saves. Allayna Martone also saw time in net for the Pride in the second half, making seven saves.
