SALEM, Mass. -- UMass Boston skated to a 5-1 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) victory on Friday evening at Rockett Arena. Five different goal scorers accounted for the tallies as the Beacons improve to 3-2 and 3-0 in the NEHC this season. The Vikings are now 1-3 and 0-3 in conference.
How it Happened:
- Emily Hansen scored a power play goal at 16:05 of the first, giving UMass Boston a 1-0 lead.
- Katie Wilbert's wraparound extended the lead to 2-0 at the 18:10 mark of the first as the Beacons took a 2-0 lead into the 1st intermission.
- A two-on-one led to UMass Boston's third goal, as Jenna Fitzsimons gave the Beacons a 3-0 lead 4:21 into the second.
- A turnover by UMass Boston in the Vikings' zone led to a Megan Azzato goal for Salem State's first score of the game at 3:35 of the third.
- Lily Hayes and Emerson Homa finished a two-on-zero rush to extend the Beacons' lead to 4-1 at 11:49 of the third period.
- Adriana Capaldi capped the scoring with a goal at 15:08, making the final 5-1.
Inside the Numbers:
- Veronika Hadamovsky (1-1) made 15 saves in the win.
- Samantha Jaworski (1-2) took the loss allowing two goals with 10 saves.
- Delaney Cox gave up three goals while stopping 19 shots in two periods of work.
- The Beacons totaled 32 shots to Salem State's 16.
