Middletown, R.I. – Salem State embarked on their first road trip of the season as the Vikings took on Salve Regina at Howard Rink on Friday evening in the first game of a two-game series. Gina Richard scored a pair of goals as the Seahawks shutout the Vikings, 4-0 to earn their second win of the season (2-1). Salem State goes to 1-1 on the year.
How it Happened:
- Richard accounted for the only scoring of the first period, putting Salve Regina on top, 1-0 at 18:30 of the first with an unassisted goal.
- The Seahawks extended the lead to 2-0, 2:21 into the second period as Riley Esposito converted a power play goal.
- Richard potted her second goal of the game at 12:02 of the second, making the score 3-0 in favor of Salve Regina.
- Emily Wroblewski made it 4-0, 6:37 into the third to extend the Seahawks' lead to four goals.
