THE LEAD
The Salem State Vikings competed in a non-conference doubleheader against the Southern Maine Huskies. The Vikings battled in a tightly contested game one, using strong defensive play and a late push at the plate before narrowly falling, 2–1. Salem State carried that fight into game two, getting early offense and continuing to compete throughout, but the Huskies used a big inning and consistent hitting to secure the 24–3 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 1)
The non-conference matchup between the Southern Maine Huskies softball and the Salem State Vikings softball was defined by strong defensive play on both sides, as each team worked to keep runs off the board and limit scoring opportunities.
Through the first three innings, neither team was able to break through, with both defenses holding firm and preventing any runs from crossing the plate. It wasn't until the bottom of the fourth inning that the Huskies found their momentum, pushing across two runs to take the early 2–0 lead and recording the first scoring of the game.
The Vikings remained resilient and continued to battle, but the Huskies' defense held steady into the late innings. In the top of the seventh, Salem State mounted a comeback effort, scoring their first run of the game and looking to build momentum to tie it. However, the rally ultimately fell short. The Huskies held on defensively to secure a 2–1 victory over the Vikings.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 2)
In game two between the Southern Maine Huskies and the Salem State Vikings it would showcase a strong offensive performance from the Huskies, who earned a 24–3 win in five innings. The Vikings got off to a solid start, putting the first run on the board in the top of the first inning. Southern Maine responded in the bottom half with an strong inning, scoring 14 runs to take an early lead over the Vikings 14-1.
Despite the early deficit, Salem State continued to battle at the plate, adding two more runs in the second inning to cut the lead to 14–3. However, the Huskies' offense proved to remain strong.
Southern Maine remained consistent at the plate, adding runs in each of the following innings while maintaining control defensively. The Huskies would go on to secure the 24-3 victory in game two over the Vikings.
