HOW IT HAPPENED

The Salem State Vikings came out strong early, but a late rally lifted Wellesley College to a 3–2 walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Salem State struck first in the top of the first inning, using early offensive momentum to take a 1–0 lead over Wellesley. The Vikings' bats set the tone early, putting pressure on The Blue's defense and jumping ahead before Wellesley could settle in.

Wellesley responded in the bottom of the third inning, finding their rhythm at the plate. The Blue strung together timely hits and brought two runs across the plate, flipping the score and taking a 2–1 lead over the Vikings.

Salem State wasted little time answering back. In the top of the fourth inning, the Vikings pushed their offense forward again and managed to drive in the tying run, evening the score at 2–2.

From there, the game turned into a pitcher's duel, with both teams' defenses and pitchers holding firm inning after inning. Neither side could break through as the tension built heading into the final inning.

In the bottom of the seventh,. The Blue would find a way to load the bases and would, bring in the winning run across the plate to secure a 3–2 walk-off victory over the Vikings.
