SALEM, Mass. -- Gordon and Salem State each took a game in a non-conference doubleheader at Alumni Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Fighting Scots took game one 6-3 before the Vikings bounced back to take game two, 6-2. Salem State evens their record at 16-16 while Gordon goes to 8-24.
How It Happened
Game 1
Emily Graham (5-11) earned her fifth win for Gordon, going 7.0 innings allowing three runs on six hits with a walk and strikeout. Ami Rivera and Graham each went 2-for-4 at the plate for Gordon.
Mady Breault (0-1) took the loss giving up six runs -- three earned -- on 10 hits with five strikeouts. Allison Frost was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Dawn Eisnor had two hits and two RBI.
- Eisnor gave Salem State a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the first.
- Rivera's double tied the game in the third for Gordon before Graham's RBI single to left gave the Fighting Scots a 2-1 lead.
- Samantha Gaona-Sullivan and Eisnor regained the lead for Salem State in the bottom of the inning with RBI singles.
- Gordon scored three in the fourth on a two-run error and a Caoimhe Wernsing single to center.
- Madison Murray's sacrifice fly made it 6-3 in the fifth.
Game 2
How It Happened
Sula Roberge won her third start with 4.1 innings pitched, allowing an unearned run on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Roberge also went 1-for-2 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored.
Katie Melendy (2-4) took the loss, lasting 3.1 innings and giving up five runs -- three earned -- with a strikeout and two walks. Wernsing was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run for Gordon.
- Gaona-Sullivan's RBI groundout made it 1-0 in the first.
- A Roberge double and two-run error made it 5-0 in favor of the Vikings in the fourth.
- Wernsing scored on a passed ball for Gordon to make it a 4-1 game in the fifth.
- Fowler's RBI single in the bottom of the inning pushed the lead to 6-1.
- Hailey Conde knocked in a run in the seventh to make the final 6-2.
