Beacons Defeat Vikings in First Round of Little East Tournament.
BOSTON -- No. 4 seed UMass Boston advanced to the Little East Men's Tennis Tournament semifinals with a 5-2 victory over No. 5 seed Salem State at BC High Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon. The Beacons even their record at 7-7 while the Vikings end their campaign 2-7.
Quentin Wilkins finished the season with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles to end with an 8-1 season record. Lachlan Hall / Kevin Merino-Rivas earned the other point for Salem State defeating Maxwell Dill / Shrenith Rakshana, 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.
UMass Boston took two-of-three doubles matches with Dominik Dwyer / Victor Xu beating Wilkins / Mark Wood, 9-7 (7-4) at No. 2 doubles. Joseph Malone / James Tiger Li won, 8-3 over Joseph Malone / James Tiger Li at No. 3 doubles. The Beacons clinched the match with wins at No. 2. No. 3 and No. 4 singles, all in straight sets.
