RUTLAND, Vt. -- Salem State defeated Vermont State Castleton, 6-3 in men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at Vermont Sport and Fitness Club. The Vikings pickup their first Little East Conference win (1-2) and are now 2-2 on the season. The Spartans slide to 2-4 and 0-3. Salem State in now 5-0 all-time against Vermont State Castleton.

Quentin Wilkins remained unbeaten at No.1 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Miki Almirall. Wilkins / Mark Wood earned a win at No. 1 doubles with an 8-0 shutout over Almirall / Alberto Lantelme. Michael Muttiah / Josh Gruber picked up the other doubles point for the Vikings with an 8-3 decision over Ben Chilkott / Trevor Castino at No.3 doubles.

Mark Wood came back to beat Tanner Ciufo, 6-7 (7-4), 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles while Kevin Merino-Rivas took care of Ben Chilkott, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 5 singles. Michael Muttiah defeated Dylan Shiland, 8-5 at No. 6 singles as Salem State took 4-of-6 singles matches.
