Vikings Fall to Trailblazers in North Adams

SALEM, Mass. – Salem State men's soccer traveled to North Adams, Massachusetts to take on the Trailblazers from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) tonight. Three goals in the second half would propel the home team to the 4-2 victory, dropping the Vikings to 5-6-4 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play.

How it Happened:

  • A relatively quiet first half appeared to be headed for a scoreless conclusion, but Conor Green (Bolton, Mass.) scored in the 40th minute, giving his team a slim 1-0 advantage at halftime.
  • After the break, the Vikings took the lead when an own goal by the Trailblazers leveled the score at 1-1 and then shortly after, Alex Ixlaj-Tello's (Lynn, Mass.) goal gave Salem the lead with 34 minutes to play in the game.
  • Salem's lead was short-lived, as the Trailblazers equalized with a penalty kick. Soon after, Liam Gibney (Rensselaer, N.Y.) put the Trailblazers back in front with a bottom-left goal.
  • In the final seconds of the game, the Trailblazers added another goal to seal the 4-2 victory over the Vikings.
