Fisher Notches 2-1 Victory Over Salem State

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State hosted Fisher on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference tilt at Alumni Field. The Falcons held off the Vikings, 2-1 to earn their first win over Salem State since the teams began playing in 2022 (1-1-1). Fisher is now 5-5-3 on the year while the Vikings go to 5-5-4.

How it Happened:

  • Leonardo Di Biase converted from 12 yards out on an assist from Hugo Rodriguez in the 22nd minute for an early Fisher lead.
  • Vanilton Xavier nearly tied the game a few minutes later, however is header, which clipped the bottom of the crossbar, was not ruled a goal.
  • The Falcons nearly increased their lead late in the first half as a breakaway caught the Salem State keeper away from the goal, but Kyle Lobao denied the scoring chance by heading away a shot from the open net.
  • Tim Schwarz made it 2-0 in the Falcons' favor with a goal in the 73rd minute.
  • Salem State's Michael Echavarria prevented the shutout, converting a free kick from 10 yards out that made the final 2-1 in the 89th minute.
