Gordon Tops Salem State 2-0

WENHAM, Mass. – Salem State traveled to Gordon College on Wednesday evening to face the Fighting Scots in a match-up of North Shore rivals. Gordon scored two goals in the second half to come out on top 2-0. The Vikings are now 3-2-3 on the season while the Fighting Scots improve to 3-3-3. 

How it Happened:

• Max Cardone broke the scoreless tie early in the second half, scoring on an assist from Noah Martin in the 47th minute. 
• Later, Gilbert Daru kept the ball from going out of bounds and fed a cross to Benny Simpson, who beat goalie Erik Berg for a 2-0 Gordon lead in the 52nd minute. 
• The Fighting Scots limited Salem State to just one shot in the second half and five total for the game.

Inside the Numbers:

• Isaiah Diaz (1-0-1) made three saves in the win. 
• Berg (1-1), who suffered his first loss, stopped six shots.
• Gordon is now 7-1-1 against Salem State in their past nine games.
