Vikings and Rams Play to 1-1 Draw

SALEM, Mass. – Salem State men's soccer welcomed the Suffolk University Rams to Alumni Field this afternoon, where second half goals from both squads would end the game in a 1-1 draw.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Naderson Curtis (Manchester, Mass.) came close to scoring twice in the closing moments of the first half, but Suffolk's goalkeeper, Nathan Harlow (London, England), made crucial saves to keep the game scoreless to enter the break.
• Fourteen minutes into the second half, a Ram header looked set to beat Marcelo Silva (Marlborough, Mass.), but Kyle Labao (Peabody, Mass.) kept the game tied as he got his head on the ball to clear it out.
• The first goal was notched in the 66th minute when Luke Blawn (Orlando, Fla.) fired the ball into the net to give the Rams the 1-0 lead.
• The Vikings' sophomores would serve up the equalizer in the 83^rd minute after Labao found Landon Picillo (Warwick, R.I.) who laced it past the Rams' keeper to level the game at one, which would hold to finalize the 1-1 draw between the Vikings and Rams.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Landon Picillo netted his first goal of the season while Kyle Labao dished out his second assist.
• Marcelo Silva turned away a career-high five shots in this afternoon's effort.

The Vikings hit the road on Wednesday, September 18^th when they travel down to Medford, Massachusetts to take on the Jumbos of Tufts University at 7 p.m.
