Athlete Spotlight: Stephane Fevry

SALEM, Mass. -- This week's athlete spotlight features freshman men's soccer player Stephane Fevry (Haverhill, Mass.), who was recently named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Defensive and Rookie of the Week for the week ending August 31st. Fevry broke a scoreless tie, scoring his first collegiate goal while helping the Vikings' defense limit Lasell to just four shots on goal in a 2-0 Salem State victory.

Can you talk about your performance this past week that led to your player of the week award?

"Preparation and just learning from the veterans like James Meli and Vanilton Xavier. Coach Corriea and coach Skarbelis put me in a position to perform on game day."

Are there any short-term goals you'd like to accomplish this season?

"[MASCAC] Rookie of the Year is the big one, but also just staying in the starting lineup, and being consistent and making sure my success doesn't stop here."

Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athlete?

"My speed and my mindset. I'm always setting goals, and I don't settle for anything. Its always, 'whats the next goal I can achieve'".

Is there a coach/athlete or someone outside of sports that you look up to as a role model?

"My father is my biggest one."

What's the best piece of advice you've gained from your coaches?

"It doesn't matter how you start, its how you finish and that mistakes are inevitable. Its about what you do after a mistake that matters."

How would your coaches and teammates describe you?

"Energetic, hardworking, fast."

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?

"I love to run."
