Vikings and Pride Play to 1-1 Stalemate

SALEM, Mass. – Salem State men's soccer welcomed Regis College to Alumni Field tonight, where Alex Ixlaj-Tello's (Lynn, Mass.) goal in the 57^th minute would solidify the 1-1 tie on the evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Nolan McMahon (White River Junction, Vt.) put the Pride up early after his goal in the 20^th minute gave his squad a 1-0 tilt.
• Brady Whitmarsh (Attleboro, Mass.) turned away the next six shots he faced to keep the Vikings' deficit at one goal heading into the break.  
• The Vikings were able to even the score in the 57^th minute when Aaron O'Toole (Quincy, Mass.) found Ixlaj-Tello to tie the game at one apiece.
• Whitmarsh and his Regis counterpart would both turn away a pair of shots before the final buzzer would end the game at a 1-1 draw.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Just two games into the young season, Alex Ixlaj-Tello marked his second goal while teammate, Aaron O'Toole, recorded his second assist.
• Freshman goalkeeper, Brady Whitmarsh saved nine shots in his debut while notching his first career start for the orange and blue.

UP NEXT:

The Vikings hit the road for the first time this season when they travel to UMass.- Dartmouth this Saturday, September 7 to take on the Corsairs. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
