Vikings Take 2-0 Victory in Season Opener

SALEM, Mass. – This afternoon, Salem State men's soccer opened their 2024 campaign with a win after the duo of Stephane Fevry (Haverhill, Mass.) and Gabriel DaSilva (Woburn, Mass.) recorded second half goals to give the Vikings the 2-0 victory over the Lasers of Lasell University.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Despite a majority of the first half action taking place in the Vikings' offensive zone, the game went into the break at a 0-0 stalemate as Antonio Centracchio (Springfield, Mass.) turned away all seven of the Vikings shots on goal.
• Three minutes into the second stanza, Alex Ixlaj-Tello (Lynn, Mass.) sent a threw ball to freshman, Fevry, who booted the ball into the top corner to record the Vikings first goal of the season.
• The Vikings would seal the deal in the 78^th minute when David Carfagnini (Stoneham, Mass.) found DaSilva for their squad's second goal of the game which would carry them to the 2-0 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• First year, Fevry, recorded his first career goal for the Vikings while sophomore teammate, Carfagnini, notched his first career assist.
• Nine Vikings made their debut for the orange and blue in this afternoon's game.
• Today's 2-0 victory marks Salem State men's soccer third consecutive opening day victory over the Lasers.
