Malango Named to 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's All-New England Region Second Team

SALEM, MASS. - Forward Mayele Malango (Lowell, Mass.) was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's All-New England Region Second Team in an announcement on Wednesday afternoon. Malango became the 28th Salem State player to earn selection to the All-New England Region Team and is the first since Eryk Fernandez in 2012.

The freshman standout led Salem State to its first Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and NCAA berth since 2010. The MASCAC Player of the Year, finished the season with 17 goals and nine assists, leading the conference in goals scored and points. Including his post-season totals, he tallied the third most goals and second most points (43) by a freshman in Salem State history. He also topped the MASCAC with five game-winning goals and had two games this season where he registered five points.
