West Conn Defeats Salem State

DANBURY, Conn. -- Western Connecticut State cruised to a 29-1 victory over Salem State at Westside Stadium on Saturday in a Little East matchup. Julian Duque led the Wolves with five goals and and an assist while Kyle Cuccio - four goals, one assist - and Tyler Starrett - four goals - contributed to the win. Western Connecticut is now 10-6 and remains unbeaten in the LEC with a 7-0 record. The Vikings slip to 7-7 and 1-6.

How it Happened

• West Conn's Starrett had three first period goals as the Wolves opened up a 10-0 lead.
• Duque had three consecutive scores in the second period, with the third giving the Wolves a 15-0 advantage with 8:12 remaining. James Kosty made it 20-0 with a score right before halftime.  
• Eight more goals pushed the run to 28-0 in the third.
• Jack Murphy scored the Wolves' 29th goal in the fourth before Tyler Kalloo broke the string for Salem State with 2:07 left.
• Jake Kelly (6-2) earned the win making four saves as West Conn used three goalies in the game.
• Damian Biersteker (5-6) took the loss stopping 10 shots for the Vikings.
