Athlete Spotlight: Will Nepveu

SALEM, Mass. -- This week's athlete spotlight features sophomore men's ice hockey player Will Nepveu (Montreal, Quebec), who was recently named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Goalie of the Week for the week ending November 9. Nepveu stopped all 39 shots to record a shutout in Salem State's 4-0 victory over MCLA.

Can you talk about your performance this past week that led to your player of the week award?

"I did my job! I made the saves and the guys did a great job in front of me. It was a good team win!"

Are there any short-term goals you'd like to accomplish this season?

"The next goal is winning on Thursday against Fitchburg. Every league game counts to achieve our goal of winning the MASCAC."

Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athlete?

"My work ethic and love for the game of hockey."

Is there a coach/athlete or someone outside of sports that you look up to as a role model?

"My parents."

What's the best piece of advice you've gained from your coaches?

 "Never too high. Never too low."

How would your coaches and teammates describe you?

"I think they would describe me as hardworking, positive, focused, but also as someone who likes to have a good time with my teammates when the time is right."

Is there an interesting fact that most people don't know about you?

"My first language is French."

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?

"Traveling, music and surfing."
