Men's Golf Concludes Day One at MASCAC Championship

THE LEAD – The Salem State men's golf team concluded Day One of the MASCAC Championship by posting a score of 321 (+33), which has the Vikings in second place after Saturday's action.
SALEM STATE HIGHLIGHTS
- Matt Tramonte (Tewksbury, Mass.) led the Vikings with an opening-round score of 78 (+6) and is currently in third place. Tramonte had a six-hole stretch where he recorded par for each hole. Not far behind Tramonte was Patrick Cotter (Melrose, Mass.) in sixth place at 80 (+8). In the front nine, Cotter notched two birdies for Salem.
- Capping off the top-10 for Salem was Joe Orlando (Gloucester, Mass.) at 81 (+9) for a ninth-place finish. Orlando capped off the last three holes by recording a par on each one.
- Salem State was able to have two golfers stay within the top-15 in Anthony Choukas (Weymouth, Mass.) at 14th place with a score of 82 (+10) and Trevor Thompson (Los Angeles, Calif.) in 15th at 83 (+11). Both Vikings notched birdies in the front nine for the Blue and Orange.
OTHER RESULTS
- Marymount (Va.) currently is atop the leaderboard at 316 (+28) and also has the top individual leader as well in Chase Manion at 76 (+4).
- Rounding out the top five after Marymount and Salem are Springfield College in third at 322 (+34), and in a tie for fourth are MCLA, along with Westfield State, with a score of 336 (+48).
