Vikings Win Third MASCAC Title in Four Years
SOUTHWICK, Mass. Salem State won its third Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championship in four years under head coach Jimmy O'Reilly, and 22nd overall as the Vikings (+43) held off MCLA (+51) to claim the 2024 championship at the Ranch Golf Club on Sunday afternoon. Danny DiLisio (Swampscott, Mass.) posted an even 71 on day two after a 72 on the opening day of the tournament to card a +1, 143 to finish runner-up to medalist Matt Gover of MCLA (-2, 140). Colin Richmond (Newburyport, Mass.) posted a two-day, +8, 77, 73 to earn a top-four finish. Both DiLisio and Richmond earned ALL-MASCAC First Team honors.
Ethan Doyle (Salem, Mass.) took home ALL-MASCAC second team honors after a top-eight finish, scoring a two-day +15, 78, 79. Patrick Cotter (Melrose, Mass.) - 17th place and Joe Orlando (Gloucester, Mass.) - 19th place rounded out the field for Salem State. Cotter +21, 84, 79 and Orlando +21, 86, 77 both rebounded from slow starts to finish in the top-10 on the the second day to help Salem State earn the team championship.
