SALEM, Mass. -- Lexi James scored early in the second period and Bridgewater State's defense made the goal stand up as the Bears opened Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play with a 1-0 win over Salem State at Mazzaferro Field on Saturday afternoon. 

How it Happened:

  • James scored the only goal of the game on an assist from Samantha Souza in the 20th minute.  

  • The Bears did not allow a first half shot to the Vikings, holding a 5-0 advantage at the break.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Izzy Mosley made five saves in net for the Vikings in the loss.

  • Brianna Gagnon stopped three shots for the Bears in the victory.

  • Bridgewater State held a 10-6 margin in corners.
