Strong First Half Lifts Wildcats Over Vikings

SALEM, Mass.-- Salem State field hockey closed their four-game home stint tonight when they welcomed the Wildcats from Johnson and Wales University (JWU) to Alumni Field where a 4-0 Wildcat victory snapped the Vikings' three-game win streak. 

How it Happened:

• A hat trick in the opening 18 minutes from Megan Salsinha (Westport, Mass.) spearheaded the Wildcats to a four goal opening half, giving them the 4-0 advantage at the break.

• Izzy Mosley (Middleborough, Mass.), turned away seven shots for the Vikings in the second half to keep the Wildcats off the scoreboard; solidifying the four-goal victory for Johnson and Wales (4-0). 

Inside the Numbers:

• Izzy Mosley had her third game of the season with double-digit saves as she turned away 12 shots in tonight's effort. 

• The Vikings will enter their Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play with a 2-3 record.

The Vikings hit the road for their first MASCAC game of the season this Saturday, September 21st when they travel to Bridgewater State University to take on the Bears at 12 p.m.
