2024 Salem State Field Hockey Preview

Seaon Outlook

Salem State increased their win total in 2023, finishing 7-11 overall and 4-6 in conference, which landed the squad in fourth place in the newly reformed MASCAC Conference. The Vikings return a pair of All-Confernece players in 2024, midfielder Aleena Frith (Pepperall, Mass.) and keeper Izzy Mosley (Middleborough, Mass.), who both earned second team honors in 2023 while third-year head coach Karen Atkinson will look to continue to build off last year's improvement with a strong freshmen class. 

Coach's Take

"I am looking forward to this season. We have a strong core group returning from last season. It is very evident they put the work in during the off season and they will have a positive impact on new players. Although we graduated Melanie and Mikayla Mason, Stephanie Santorella, Caroline Hebert, Kaia Hollingsworth and Ashley Yebba, we were able to bring in a strong freshman and transfer group. We are looking forward to competing against the MASCAC teams.

My assistant coach and I are heading into our third season together as a coaching staff. We couldnt be more thrilled with the roster we have for 2024. We are looking forward to seeing the progress we make throughout preseason and within our competition in the MASCAC."  

Players To Watch

Aleena Frith (2nd Team All-Confernence), Izzy Mosley (2nd Team All-Confernence), Hannah Cochran and Laura McVeigh - all returners and captains. Grace Morey (Franklin Pierce), an incoming transfer, and Claire Fallica sophomore returner will both provide leadership and skill.  

Season Opener

Salem State opens the season on the road, September 4 against Endicott @ 7:00 PM.
