Currier Named MASCAC Pitcher of the Week

MASCAC OFFICIAL RELEASE

SALEM, Mass. - For the second time this season, Salem State junior pitcher Nolan Currier (Maynard, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.

In last Saturday's 3-0 win versus Anna Maria, Currier tossed his second complete game of the season by going 7.0 IP and gave up just two hits while fanning a career-high 11 batters. Currier also held the AMCATS hitless throughout the first four innings before allowing a single to right field. He now ranks within the top-10 in numerous pitching categories in the MASCAC, including ERA (1.19-first), wins (four-fourth), strikeouts (35-eighth), and WHIP (1.57-seventh).

Coming up for Currier and the Vikings, the squad travels to Suffolk for a non-conference matchup on Thursday, April 23, at 3:30 p.m. Capping off the week for Salem, the Blue and Orange kick off a three-game MASCAC series hosting Framingham State on Friday, April 24, at 3:00 p.m. followed by a doubleheader in Framingham on Saturday, April 25, starting at 1:00 p.m.
